Safety First - How to Baby Proof Your Home
Pregnancy is an exciting time for all couples but it can be a stressful time too. Nine months may seem like a considerable amount of time to prepare for your baby's arrival, but there are so many things to do in such little time. It's important that parents take time to baby proof their home. There are hazardous areas around your home that, without proper protection, can harm your baby. No matter how many soft cuddly toys your little angel might have, they will always be tempted to stick their fingers in the sockets or use your sharp kitchen utensils as a rattle.
First on your safety checklist for baby proofing your home is to fit baby safety gates. Once children begin to walk, they do not stop. Limiting their roaming area will ease your worries about accidental tumbles down the stairs or prevent your baby from wandering outside without your knowledge. These gates can be fitted onto the entranceway of any room that you wouldn't like your baby entering. Most gates have a special retractable latch which lets you open the gate easily while holding your child.

Next, it is vital that you fit all of the sockets in your home with covers. Young children are very inquisitive and for some reason, sockets seem most appealing to them. These plastic covers fit simply into your sockets and can be removed when you need to plug in an appliance. Wall brackets are another good idea to baby proof any heavy objects by securing them down so that they cannot be pulled over. For any technical equipment, there is electrical cable tidy that will bunch your cables together.
Baby locks for your windows are a good idea to prevent you child from opening a window, especially if you don't reside on the ground floor. Corner cushions should be placed on any sharp corners, preventing your baby from bumping or cutting his or her head. Putting special child safety locks on your drawers will prevent your child from hurting him or herself with the dangerous contents inside.
There are various baby proofing products available to any expecting parent, so it is possible to baby proof your home without going to the extreme and sawing off the edges of your table or disconnecting your electricity.
